A History on the Art of Incense
Brighten your day in one moments time…
Incense is an art, the ancient art of blending together fragrant gifts of nature into forms conducive for transport and release. Imagine, the first flame… the atmosphere… the warmth… the Light… and the fragrance. Perhaps ancient pine trees or cedar wood was burning. Then adding fragrant leaves, bark, sap, herbs, spices to expand the offerings. The first glimmerings of loose incense to be burned on charcoal (a True Scents offering) grows. Then, the thought… take a whole branch of an aromatic plant to burn, to cleanse the atmosphere. Another True Scents offering is born in the form of smudge sticks. Next... discovering that these gifts of nature can be dried and crushed and blended and molded into forms which could be lit by a small flame… portable – no need to build a fire beneath. The art of incense takes shape as fragrances are combined in specific ways to release creative expressions. Cone, spirals, coils, rope, dhoop incense and more come into being. Then perhaps blends are expanded upon, and the stick comes into view as a means to roll incense on, to dip into aromatic oils…
